Feed Me Books Friday

Photobucket

Dr. Seuss is one of my favorites.  I love the rhythm of reading them aloud.  I have always found kids to be a great audience when reading Dr. Seuss.

Annabelle loves the Dr. Seuss books.  Her favorite is Green Eggs and Ham.  It is one of my favorites as well because it is so much fun to read aloud.  It takes some practice but it's worth it.

"I would not, could not, in a box.
I could not, would not, with a fox.
I will not eat them with a mouse.
I will not eat them in a house.
I will not eat them here or there.
I will not eat them anywhere.
I do not eat green eggs and ham.
I do not eat them, Sam-I-am."

As a librarian, I read aloud to many students every year.  I always try to read "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!" by Dr. Seuss.  It has a great literacy message that I like to share with my kids.  Reading takes you places!

"If you read with your eyes shut you're likely to find that the place you are going is far, far behind."  "Young Cat! If you keep your eyes open enough, oh, the stuff you will learn! The most wonderful stuff!

  6. We recommended I Can Read With My Eyes Shut, too. And after I published the post, I thought of Green Eggs and Ham. Great minds think alike! My daughter is Sam(antha) and she sometimes practices saying, "I am Sam." in a Southern drawl! (We moved to Tennessee this past summer) It's hilarious.
