Well the second attempt was awesome and I think I am now addicted to sewing!
Here's what I did.
I began with an old T-shirt of my husbands. It was huge. I cut off the bottom and had a lot to work with but I knew I wanted a short scarf so I actually ended up cutting this part too.
Then I attacked the sleeves with my scissors and cut it into strips.
I ironed everything too! Look how wrinkled it was. It had been sitting at the bottom of my closet for months. I knew I would use it eventually!
Then I started sewing. I pinned the strips in pleats on the main part to make ruffles and sewed across. Perfect little stitces! Nice straight lines!
I made it pretty funky and used different sizes and strips and start the pleats on different ends. I didn't know how it would turn out and I wasn't seeking perfection. The stitches are perfect though!
Here's my finished project. I put three rows of ruffles on each end of my scarf.
And here it is! I think it will be perfect for the spring with a denim coat.
Let me know what you think! It might be missing something...
I love it! As soon as I get a chance I am going to try and make one too.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! And thrifty. I never would have thought to make an old t shirt into a ruffly scarf!
