Flower Hair Pins from an Old T-shirt

When I saw this idea on the blog Crafty Schemes I loved it! I have been thinking of a way to jazz up hair pins for awhile so I thought I'd take the idea of using an old t-shirt and apply it to my stash of hair pins.

I have a lot of hair and pins are my go to look when I just can't stand the fullness any longer.  I had a couple of my husband's old T-shirts hanging around and I set to work.  I love them! I think they turned out beautifully.  Unfortunately, my pictures didn't!

Making the flower is really easy and you can check out Crafty Schemes for some great pictures of how to do it. I finished the ends by hot gluing it to the back of the flower.

I attached the hair pin by pulling it through that end piece and adding a little hot glue.

And here I am modeling:

Can you tell I'm not a natural redhead! Off to do my roots!

Check out the parties I'm linking to this week in the sidebar. Some much inspiration, so little time!

  1. You are very creative indeed! My 13 year old daughter has so many of these things around the house-I am going to have to share this idea with her. We will be back soon to have another look! Thanks for the great idea.

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.

  4. I am not a natural redhead either. I use henna from Germany for my hair color. I use tiny clips to get that mommy friendly hairstyle. I should try your idea for variety. I never thought of adding embellishments. Thanks for visiting the blog and leaving a comment.
