Another Fabulous Shirt with the Help of My Glue Gun!

I Love My Glue Gun!
I have not been able to figure out how to do ruffles on my sewing machine.  I think it may need a different foot!? Is that possible? Anyway, I've tried a couple of times and my thread just breaks off.  But I've seen such beautiful refashions done with ruffles and I really wanted to do it too!

Then I found a book called 99 Ways to Cut, Sew, Trim, and Tie Your T-Shirt into Something Special. (Note: I linked this to Amazon but get it at your library!) It has a great idea for making ruffles and when I saw it I thought that would never work.  Well it did!

Want to know how I did that? I cut the sleeves off the shirt. I then cut a spiral out of the leftover fabric.  The spiral cut made a cute little ruffle.  I then HOT GLUED the ruffle to the shirt! And look how cute!

You probably want nice pictures of the spiral and probably a better picture of the shirt. Well I would too but we can't have everything you want! I keep telling that to my three year old and she doesn't listen either.

The thing is the shirt is really dark and the pictures I took of the spiral didn't come out.  Also, have you noticed I take all my own pictures.  I don't trust my husband to take good ones of me and usually I have a ridiculous look on my face so I crop out my face! The other ones I took of the shirt looked pretty silly!

I'm going to do another shirt and do a really nice tutorial.  I promise!

Linking up this week here.

  4. Who would have thought you could do that with hot glue! How does it wash?

And as for ruffles on your sewing machine, no special foot needed. If your thread is breaking easily it could be old thread? I know I had some older thread and it breaks way too easily.
