My husband usually does all our laundry (great guy, I know!) on his day off while I'm at work. He threw my shirt in the dryer and much to my surprise it was fine. It has since been washed and dried many times (I wear it a lot!) and it still looks great!
This led me to raid my closet for all the shirts I haven't worn and to see what I could do with them in an afternoon with my hot glue gun! Here's the first. More to come!
This was a long sleeve Old Navy shirt I haven't worn for awhile.
I cut the sleeves and cut the neckline to make it more scooped and flattering instead of the boring librarian-y shirt (I know I'm a librarian but do I have to dress like one?)
Then I took the fabric from the sleeves and cut two strips. I hot glued the strips to the waist below the bust and tied it in the middle.
I'm almost finished! I made a quick fabric flower and glued that to the neckline. I'm not entirely happy with the placement of the flower but I do love the waist band. I might do that again!
I'll be linking up this week here.

I Love this! Super cute! I would love it if you linked up to my Talk About it Tuesday party because you have such cute ideas!

ReplyDeleteI know they make hot glue sticks specifically for fabric--is that the type you used or the all purpose ones? I'm amazed it holds through the dryer, too--wow!

ReplyDeleteThanks for following my blog! You're a librarian? I'm a teacher :). I love the new-age librarian look. Maybe you could add a couple more flowers going up (toward the shoulder) to offset the placement of the first one?
