Etsy Shop Feature: Creative Apples

Reading over April's profile, the artist behind the etsy shop, Creative Apples, I noticed that one of her favorite materials to work with is cupcakes.

Right then I knew I was going to like her!

Plus I have a soft spot in my heart for photographers being a daughter of a photographer.  My dad would take me to art museums and festivals and we would look at the photos together.  I think he would have really enjoyed April's work!

April's photography is original, inspiring and delicious! Yes, delicious! She is also a painter and creates lovely greeting cards from her photography.

I was strangely drawn to the Garden Gnome greeting card. Such a cute little guy!

You'll also find beautiful flower greeting cards.

As well as cupcakes!
Wouldn't these be perfect for birthday party invitations or thank yous!? They look just delicious! She has so many of these to chose from too!

April is very creative and talented and I am delighted to have found her shop.  I hope you'll stop by her blog too
Thanks! Have a great day!

Baby Shower Gift Tutorial

Baby Shower Gift Tutorial

My sister-in-law is having a baby in September! I am so excited for her and excited to be an Aunt. I love being an Aunt.  I already have two nieces and a nephew and I just adore them.

I wanted to make her something special for the baby.  I had planned a post about the awful baby blanket I made.  I used a simple tutorial I found somewhere and sewed two pieces of flannel together.  I hated the way it turned out.  It's charming in a home-made sort of way but not perfect.  I didn't take any pictures of it so there will be no "look at this awful thing I made" post.

I being a little hard on myself really.

I did make a couple of baby onesies (what to do you call them? Onesies? bodysuits? snapsuits?) that I love.

This was so easy and fun.  Here's what you'll need:

onesie, t-shirt, etc.
fabric paint
paper towel tube or toilet paper tube

Cut a circle from your tube.
Form your circle into a heart or other shape. (You can leave it a circle too!)
Dip your tube shape into fabric paint and print onto your onesie. I always forget to do this but before you begin printing or painting on a onesie or t-shirt put a piece of paper or cardboard inside.  Otherwise your paint will seep through and your onesie will stick together!

I printed several hearts on mine.

I love the way they turned out!

Here's another idea using tubes!

Feel like a lot of work? These designs are available in my etsy shop Belle Rose Designs!

I'll be linking up here this week! Check out these great parties!

Featured Flower Friday #4: Kid's Crafts

One of the great things about my job is the arts and crafts. One little girl came into the library recently and said, "You're the lady who makes crafts with kids!" Yep, that's me!

I love coffee filter crafts and this is a great tutorial from Lovely Paper Blog.

I love these flower crayons from No time to be bored.

She also made these bubble wands. Two great ideas!

This is another great idea for kids and a fabulous tutorial from She wears flowers!

Great job ladies! Grab a button!

Etsy Shop Highlight!

I am having a lot of fun stocking my shop! My creative juices are flowing and I can't seem to stop thinking of new designs! Here's my latest! Pink Ribbon Cord and Washer Necklace!

I weaved a thin silver cord through washers and then weaved the dark pink ribbon through.  I added a ribbon for a feminine touch!

And guess what else?

Matching earrings!

Etsy Seller Feature: Karilan Designs

I've always been fascinated with dreams and dream catchers.  I haven't had many dreams to catch lately since I've been sleep-deprived for almost 14 months but that's another story.

Looking at the etsy shop, Karilan Designs, is like stepping into a dream itself. Each item is elegant and pristine.  She sells necklaces, earrings and hair accesories all inspired by the dream catcher legend.

Here are a few favorites. This necklace is delicate and inspiring.

She offers these earrings in several colors. I love each one.  They are trendy but unique.

I also fell in love with her journals. This owl one especially is so charming.

Thanks for letting me feature your amazing shop!

Check out the kind things she said about Belle Rose Designs here.

Getting Ready for the Beach

I've been busy this week sewing for others and making gifts and new items for my shop so I haven't had time to make anything new for myself for the $30 Budget Challenge.  I'll get back to it.  I still have a lot of ideas for projects.  I will also share the gifts I made next week!

This is what's been on my mind: The beach! We will be leaving for the beach in a few weeks and Annabelle is getting so excited! So am I! I can't wait to show the beach to Dashiell and see if Annabelle still loves it! The last time we went she was 16 months and I don't think remembers it.  She would RUN into the ocean!

Annabelle and I did an art project yesterday that turned into a countdown to the beach!

We stared with some seashells and paint.

Here she is getting messy!
One of our finished projects!

Then I had the idea about the countdown.  I made circles and she helped me use the seashells to print around the circles.

Then I cut them out and attached them to a ribbon with tape.

It looks great hanging on our mantle which I decorated with seashells and some of my Dad's beach photographs.  I love it! Totally getting me in the mood for the beach.

Each day we'll pull off another number until we've reached the day we leave! I think it will help Annabelle realized she's not going to the beach every day she wakes up!

Have a great day!

Tissue Paper Flower Tutorials

Tissue Paper Flower Tutorial
This was a project I made during Flower Week.  Annabelle was really sick and I was trying to cheer her up.

All you need is tissue paper and chenille stems (aka pipe cleaners)

Fold your tissue paper so it's a small square

Cut a circle in the square so you have a bunch of circles.
Stick the tissue paper circles through the stem.

Fold some to give the flower texture.

Scrunch your flower to make it more flowery.

Make someone's day!

Stay tuned for this week's Featured Flower Friday for more kid's flower crafts!
