Alphabet Photography by Artistic Letters

I am so excited about this special offer from Artistic Letters. You might remember my post from a few weeks ago where I made these.
Here's a little more about Artistic Letters.

Photographer Jodi Gerber of ArtisticLetters has created an entire catalog of black and white letter images throughout the past 3 years – all by taking photos of objects in nature that resembled letters of the alphabet. She recently decided to offer her ENTIRE catalog of 250+ letter images to the public on CD or Download so that anyone could create their own designs!   It’s a truly original way to make artwork for your home - or even for scrapbooking, greeting cards, and digital designs consisting of wedding invitations, graduation announcements, baby’s birth, crafts, etc.).  Endless possibilities for whatever the mind can imagine!

Jodi teamed up with me and is offering exclusive discounted pricing for SingingThreeLittleBirds readers of up to $6 Off.  Please visit her website www.BuyAlphabetPhotos.com and browse the images, testimonials, and ideas.  Click on the “SingingThreeLittleBirds” tab and enter   BIRDS   as the password and you’ll find the exclusive discounted prices!

FREEBIE ALERT:  Jodi also offered my readers a Freebie alphabet set (with purchase) as a Bonus!  I selected a “Black Damask with White Letters” set that I thought you would all enjoy receiving.
The exclusive pricing and Freebie offer expires tomorrow, June 1 at 10 p.m. Eastern so be sure you take advantage of this great deal at www.BuyAlphabetPhotos.com while it lasts.

Craft for Kids: Paper Tube Flowers

Paper Tube Flowers

I found this idea via Crafty Crow.

My kiddos love to paint and we recently bought a new picnic table for outside. It's the perfect place to sit and paint in the sunshine.

She's my little artist. Give her an art project and she's happy. Love that serious face while she is working.

Lots of fun for him too! We painted the paper tubes for our stems.

After they dried we cut foam parts for the petals. I cut slits in the tops of the tubes to stick the petals in.

He was happy because I let him cut the foam pieces. Under my supervision, of course. Great for building those fine motor skills.

Here is my finished product.

And Annabelle with hers.

This project was made with things I had around the house already. Foam pieces can be found at a craft store but if you don't have those you can use construction paper or any scraps of paper you have around the house. Nothing fancy here at all but lots of fun.

My Adventures in Cooking: Lemonade Chicken

My Adventures in Cooking : Lemonade Chicken

My cooking skills are limited to Tuna Helper and grilled cheese.
My wonderful husband is the official cook of the house and he is fabulous.
I wouldn't dare compete with him.
But, I like cooking I just don't have much practice doing it.
So, I've challenged myself to cook more.
Heating a can of soup doesn't count.
Something with ingredients.

For this first adventure I made Lemonade Chicken. My husband bought a new crock pot and I was interested in using it. It's a lot bigger than our old one and a lot easier to clean. The idea of using a crock pot is very appealing to me. Just throw your ingredients in and walk away.
Anyway, here's the recipe via AllRecipes.com.

6 (4 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
3/4 cup lemonade concentrate
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
  • Place chicken in a 5-qt. slow cooker.
  • Combine the lemonade, ketchup, brown sugar and vinegar; pour over chicken.
  • Cover and cook on low for 2-1/2 hours or until chicken juices run clear.
  • Remove chicken and keep warm. For gravy, combine cornstarch and water until smooth; stir into cooking juices.
  • Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes or until thickened.
  • Return chicken to the slow cooker; heat through.

I also made a salad with it with mozzarella cheese and cherry tomatoes and a yummy Italian dressing.

I was pretty pleased with the meals but I probably won't make it again because the kids hated it. It was pretty tart but refreshing.

Do you have a favorite recipe? I'd love to have guest posters share their favorites.

Stop over at Sam's Crochet to see what's new!

A place to put all those headbands

While I had my Mod Podge out last week making this project, I decided it was time to do something with all those headbands of Annabelle's.

Pretty simple really. I Mod Podged fabric to a leftover canister of coffee creamer.
Now all her headbands fit in the canister instead of stuffed into an old plastic container. She can actually see them and wear them.
And I've only made her about half of them.

When I quit my job and if I ever do a craft show I think these might be a good way to display my headbands to sell.
What do you think?

What I Stumbled Upon Today

Here's what I stumbled upon today...

This Lavender Garland is a great idea from the diy club.

Origami's fun! This is from instructables.com. So pretty!

This is an old photograph but it still brings a tear to my eye.

Highlight on Window by the Sea

I want to introduce you to this very special etsy shop, Window by the Sea. They reclaim windows to give them a new life as chalk boards and picture frames. Authentically shabby chic and one of a kind!

This is such a great idea! A chalkboard and a wine cork board. Fabulous!
The window frame came from a home in Lakewood, California built in the 1950s. Bring a little bit of history with your shabby chic decor.
