Inspire Me Monday: Back to School!

Welcome! Are you kids starting school this week? Most of the kids in our area are starting school this week including my little girl. I'm a wreck. I can't sleep. I'm eating like mad. I'm probably more nervous than she is. She's fine. Excited even. I'm crying everyday. It's just such a big change and I am so not ready for it. 

But, anyway. Enough about me. I haven't done features in a few weeks so wanted to make sure I got to them this week. Thanks for inspiring me!

Salt Dough Seashell Ornament

Do you know you can make ornaments in July? Yep, not just at Christmastime. You don't even need a tree to hang them either.

The kids and I had fun with salt dough. Just Google salt dough for a recipe. It's basically just flour, salt and water. It makes a dough like play dough but it dries hard so you can make sculptures and ornaments out of it. I shared these at Christmas last year. 

 

 For this little salt dough ornament I pressed a small seashell in the center of a flattened piece of dough. I poked a hole in the top. Once it dries, either in the oven or in the sun, I then attached a piece of string for hanging.

Beach Craft: Seashell Wreath

Hello! Just popping in to show off my seashell wreath. Love it!

This wreath is from the Dollar store. The ribbon I had on hand and the seashells are obviously from my collection from the beach. So, the wreath cost me pennies to make.

Decorating with Seashells Design Tip

I'm obsessed with HGTV Design Star. Anyone else watch it? I'm going to pretend this is a camera challenge and give my design tip for decorating with seashells.

Sort your seashells by color...

Here you can see that I've sorted my light color seashells and dark color seashells in two vases for a fun look. I also framed to big seashells onto sheets of music paper. 
Love it! 

Beach Crafts

Before summer is over I wanted to share with you a few beachy posts. I have a whole new batch of seashells from our most recent beach trip and have love decorating and crafting with them. 

This week I'll share how I've decorated with seashells, my new seashell wreath and a fun seashell salt dough ornament.

Inspire Me Monday: I'm Back!!!!!

Hi! Sorry about falling off the face of the planet. I was at the beach! 

I meant to let you all know I wouldn't be around for our fun party but between packing and working I just didn't get around to it.
